Well its officially December and I have my decorations up and advent calendar started ( who wouldn’t) lol!

This time of the year is always busy; not just because work gets so hectic, everyone wanting fitted in before the big day, but socially there is allot going on like:

 Edinburgh’s Christmas Markets!

Well both me and mam are shipping off (not really just taking the train form Alnmouth) to enjoy just over 24hours in Scotland’s capital! I shall be staying with my friend and enjoy some of these:

MOUND PRECINCT AND EAST PRINCES STREET GARDENS

For the past 20 years in the heart of Edinburgh, the popular Christmas Market has been held in its picturesque setting below the Mound. Now in 2013, the Christmas market stretches from the National Gallery across the Mound Precinct, along East Princes Street Gardens Terrace, around the Scott Monument and continues onto St Andrew Square.
The traditional and romantic Christmas Market in the heart of the City of Edinburgh offers a unique shopping experience for every visitor with its fair of various crafters, artists, gift shops and gastronomic surprises. Get into the Christmas feeling!

EDINBURGH’S SCOTTISH MARKET

ST ANDREW SQUARE

Our Scottish Market in St Andrew Square is a winter showcase of the best food and drink Scotland has to offer.

The treats on offer will include traditional butteries with a contemporary twist, fresh fish and chips and a range of seafood to take away, Scottish brewed craft beer and much much more.  Yum!

Attractions:

SANTA TRAIN

Board the train at Santa's special train station next to the Christmas Tree Maze and then all aboard for an exciting ride round the maze. Look up to the Castle, the tree on the Mound, the Big Wheel, the huts and the Ice Rink on the Terrace and wave to the crowds as Santa sounds the bell.

CAROUSEL

Head down to either one of our Christmas sites and ride one of our beautiful musical carousels – our single-decker one at St Andrew Square or the double tiered carousel in East Princes Street Gardens.

BIG WHEEL

A first for Edinburgh: an observational Big Wheel, which has 36 enclosed, weather-proof pods, each seating six people, and showing unrivalled views of Edinburgh. As the pod door closes, you’ll hear a short historical tour of the view and the City. We reckon that a ride around the big wheel will have you back on it in no time!

ICE RINK

Don your skates and take a turn around the glittering ice rink on East Princes Street Gardens Terrace, beneath the Big Wheel and with Edinburgh's famous skyline as an unrivalled backdrop.

If this'd enough there is xmas parties down at dad’s home, live music playing in Rothbruy in the next couple of weeks and of course New Years day with Rothbruy Pip Band to look forward to. Off course I will try and update my blog weekly with photos and details of all the treats in store!

Take care

Fiona
