South East Northumberland Branch
Of MS
February
2013
We are almost through the Winter and into Spring. The hard working people of the Branch
Committee have put together an interesting programme of events over the next
few months – with special thanks to Anne Moore who has booked Dr Duddy,
Neurologist from the RVI at Newcastle.
He will be giving us a Talk on
Multiple Sclerosis on Wednesday 13th March. See the Events Calendar.
Soup and Stotties
Night – with some massage therapy thrown in for good measure!
Deborah Moore, therapist giving Indian Head massage at
the Social evening at St James’ Church Hall.
Deborah also gives foot and hand massage which is great for relaxation. Many
thanks to Deborah for giving her time and expertise for free. Post-Christmas this was just the job.
Branch
Coffee Drop In
We
will be holding two further informal Coffee Drop Ins at Costa Coffee in Morpeth
on Tuesday 19th March and Tuesday 21st May from 10 am –
12 noon. We will be meeting in the quiet
area at the rear of the Coffee shop for a get together and hope you can come
along. Costa Coffee is wheelchair
accessible. All welcome!
We are advertising the Support which
is available to people with MS. This flyer can be for your personal use
or if you would like to place it in your local corner shop, Hospital waiting
room, Town or Village hall or any other meeting place. Members of the committee are placing these in
meeting places within our Branch area.
It is with great sadness that we share with you the
sudden passing of a local member –Mr Brian Darby who suffered a massive and
fatal heart attack at his place of work whilst on night-shift , just before
Christmas. Brian was a very regular attendee at the monthly meetings held in
Morpeth, along with his wife Wendy , who suffers from M.S. Indeed Brian often
brought ginger and carrot cakes, baked by him, that we all enjoyed with our cup
of tea. He will be sadly missed by us all and our thoughts and deepest sympathy
go out to Wendy.

-New
Volunteers for the Branch Comittee . Being a committee member is interesting,
fun, very rewarding, is a chance to meet new people and is vitally important in
implementing the MS Society’s aims – to improve the lives of people living with
MS. There are several vacancies, why not find out more by contacting John,
Branch Chairperson?
We are seeking a volunteer for Assistant Treasurer.
This will help Steve, our Treasurer with duties, There is a small amount of
training involved. We therefore need a new volunteer to be elected at the May
Annual Meeting. If you are interested in finding out information on what this
role entails, please contact Steve by email.
Steve will be happy to answer any questions.
