Sorry!

I am so sorry that it has been a long time since I blogged anything! February has been a busy month for me, the weather is improving which means that my business is starting to pick up (new customers wanting there garden's done)and my OU course is getting more intense! This combined with my mam and dad not been very well, as made things difficult.

Today has been spent catching up with my OU course which I am loving by the way, with reading Secondary Sources and planning my next TMA which is due on the 7th March. The Block that I have just started in on Classical Greek myths, concerning that about the earliest written accounts of Homer, etc.! From Wikipedia:

“In the Western classical tradition, Homer (pron.: /ˈhoʊmər/; Ancient Greek: Ὅμηρος, Hómēros) is the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey, and is revered as the greatest of ancient Greek epic poets. These epics lie at the beginning of the Western canon of literature, and have had an enormous influence on the history of literature.

When he lived is unknown. Herodotus estimates that Homer lived 400 years before Herodotus' own time, which would place him at around 850 BC, while other ancient sources claim that he lived much nearer to the supposed time of the Trojan War, in the early 12th century BC. Modern researchers appear to place Homer in the 7th or 8th centuries BC.

The formative influence played by the Homeric epics in shaping Greek culture was widely recognized, and Homer was described as the teacher of Greece. Homer's works, which are about fifty percent speeches, provided models in persuasive speaking and writing that were emulated throughout the ancient and medieval Greek worlds. To me Homer and Ovid are two of the most important writer with regards to history, myth and cultural!
